There were a lot of smiles shared, a lot of food was eaten and several gallons of Pink Lemonade (with a hint of raspberry) was drank and Brianna Lane rocked the shop.
Many Thanks to all who came.
Momentum is a favorite cycling publication here at the shop. It's a bit Euro in that the magazine is all about real world people riding bikes in the real world. If you haven't had a chance to read it I'd recommend jumping on the website and checking Momentum out.
The current issue has an article by Troy Pieper titled "Recumbent Riders". There are a couple of Perennial Cycle mentions in the article and both John McConaghay and Luke Breen (myself) were sources for the article.

Malkolm Boothroyd stopped by the shop today with a variety of worn parts on his touring bike. Malkolm started riding up in the Yukon and is at the mid-point of his tour to Washington DC. He is part of a documentary team named 350 Solutions Revolution. He and his colleagues are stopping along the way to discuss what local communities have in mind regarding solutions to climate change.
If you'd like to be a part of their work you can check out their website and jump in with them. They will be in Minneapolis for a few more days (party tomorrow night) and then they will have a send off ride that they would like to get people to join with them (poster for send-off ride below).
Inspiring High School kids to do things is a real challenge. Add to that that what you want them to do is create and express. Good luck with that, eh? Well, an art teacher at Southwest High School here in Minneapolis is succeeding. Ms. Leierwood motivates her students to create art in ways that connect with them. Artbikes is one of her units. Drawings with sports related themes are another unit. She even gets the kids out riding the Artbikes in a local favorite parade called The May Day Parade (put on by The Heart of the Beast Theater). I believe that extra credit is awarded for the kids brave enough to ride in the parade.
Tonite at the shop Ms. Leierwood will be showcasing some of her students work in a gallery exhibition from 7:00 - 9:00. There will be a variety of Artbikes available to check out as well as drawings created in class at Southwest High. Word on the street is that Bill Eggert of Evolutionary Transport will be joining in the fun.
Here are some pictures from The May Day Parade as well as a Bike Expo earlier this spring:
