Radical Design is a dutch manufacturer that design products from the ground up. Hubert Van Ham owns and operates Radical Design and it is his specialty to design for simplicity, functionality and durability.
Rather than modify existing ideas, Hubert's designs are created from a blank slate.

In Hubert's own words:
"I try to make my designs basic, functional and well-fitting, while repairable with common tools. By using proven materials and rounded shapes, I am dedicated to make our bags last a very long time."
From Luke @ Perennial Cycle:
"Importing products from overseas adds challenges that are difficult to justify, but our relationship with Radical is going on 20 years and Hubert's products always make the challenge worth overcoming!"
Radical Design Pannier Summary:
Racer Pannier: Big enough to carry a serious amount of gear. If you're commuting or doing some *credit card touring these will work out beautifully for you. The Racers Panniers fit onto the seat of the bike and do not require a rack. The NARROW model will fit your recumbent's hardshell or euromesh seat while the WIDE will fit a standard US style seat like a Bacchetta Recurve, RANS Standard Mesh, Easy Racers Cobra, ICE Trike Mesh, Catrike plus others. The Racer Panniers can be mounted nicely using a rack as an alternative to the seat mount (click here to see).
Side Panniers (med & lg): Radical Design Side Panniers are for those looking for no limits to their options. A rear rack is required for these bags to fit your recumbent. The idea behind these bags is to keep the weight low and forward. This way you can carry large and heavy loads, yet the weight is placed to have the least effect on your 'bent's handling. Add a racktop bag and a seat bag and you are set to camp your way across the continent(s) of your choice. The NARROW model will fit your recumbent's hardshell or euromesh seat while the WIDE will fit a standard US style seat like a Bacchetta Recurve, RANS Standard Mesh, Easy Racers Cobra, ICE Trike Mesh, Catrike plus others.
Banana Racer Panniers: Same bags as the Racer Panniers (above), but with a more versatile mounting system that can be modified to fit either wide seats, or the narrow seats. If you have a couple of recumbents in the garage and they use a mix of wide and narrow seats, then the Banana Racers will suit you well. The Banana Racer Panniers can be mounted nicely using a rack as an alternative to the seat mount (click here to see).
*Credit card touring: a type of touring that isn't restricted in distance, but would typically not need a large volume of carrying capacity because camping and cook gear are left at home.

With the arrival of our first 2013 Brompton models to the shop, copies of the all-new Brompton catalog have begun to trickle in to the store. If you've been considering a Brompton for a while now, why not take the leap this year? An extended demo ride is a great way to learn how this little folder from across the pond would fit into your life, and our demo fleet is better than ever. Call the shop at 612-827-8000 to find out more about checking out a demonstrator bike for a 24-hour period. Three demonstrators are available including a superlight M6LX in Apple Green, an H6L in Pink and White, and a brand-new S2LX equipped with a Brooks B17 Special and Eazy wheels, also with Titanium extremities. All three bikes are spec'd with Telescopic Seatposts to allow for the maximum range of fit for riders of all heights.
Below are just a few of the improvements you can expect on a 2013 Brompton bicycle. And, for those of you who've already put in a number of miles on a now well-loved Brommie, we're pleased to say that 2013 replacement parts are beginning to arrive at the shop as well. For those looking to catch a deal, select pre-2013 parts are on sale while supplies last in store and at PerennialCycle.com.
All 2013 bikes will be built with a new double-wall Brompton rim
Brompton's Kevlar tires (I mean tyres...) have changed from black and grey to all-black
A newly designed aluminum brake lever with improved ergonomics, materials, and finishing
Updated, more consistent finishes on a number of parts
An improved Busch and Müller LED headlamp makes for an upgraded Shimano dynamo package
For more information about how these changes add to the Brompton experience, stop in to the shop for a test ride or give us a ring.
p.s. We're excited for 2013 for another great reason: the Brompton US Championship will return to Minneapolis this summer and we are once again the grateful hosts of the event. As for details? Hold tight. We've set the date along with Open Streets Minneapolis—Sunday, June 23 is the date to remember. Shopcast readers, Facebook fans, Twitter followers, and newsletter subscribers will be the first to know when registration opens. Spring is almost here, so in the mean time... get on that Brompton and ride! And, while you're resting from your training regimen, read up on race strategy at the newly launched bromptonuschampionship.com.
Meet Moxie's T-back jersey, Perennial Cycle's newest, locally-made jersey for women. Emily and I had a chance to take a ride in both the purple & houndstooth France Ave and multi-colored Jester when they first arrived in the store, and we couldn't be more excited to share them with you.

Moxie's jerseys are made by women cyclists, for women cyclists—and it shows. Distinct from a men's jersey and more than a yoga or running top, Moxie's T-back has everything you'd want for a ride:
Available in size small through extra-large, you're sure to find a fit that works for you. Moxie's jerseys fit true to size and the built-in bra is made to feel like your most supportive sports bra. Added to that, Moxie's jerseys are made in St. Paul, Minnesota, and it doesn't get any more local than that!

Locally made? Check. Great looks? Double check. For me, it was love at first sight. From the styling to the fit and great features like the jersey's built-in bra and 3-pocket styling, I was sold on Moxie's T-back from the first time I met the Moxie team at the Uptown Criterium earlier this summer:
After owning the Jester for almost two months, I can easily say it's become my go-to jersey. My other jerseys—all traditional zip-ups—have made their way to the bottom of my pile. Given the choice, I'd pick a Moxie tank every time.
In Emily's case, she was skeptical at first because the bra seemed on the tight-side, but she as she says:
Once I started riding the jersey felt nice and light. I forgot I was wearing it, even on a hot summer day. I'm convinced!

Emily's experience speaks to what you can expect from Moxie's jerseys: each jersey is made from lightweight, technical fabric that wicks away hard-earned sweat—keeping you dry and fresh—and each is designed with specific ventilation points that release heat and keep you cool while out riding.
The bottom line? In a Moxie jersey, you'll never have to sacrifice performance, comfort or style. That means you'll be focused on the road ahead and be able to enjoy the ride.

Brompton Folding Bikes are truly fascinating bikes. The first time someone sees one being folded they are sure to gasp in amazement. Brommies are the fastest folding bicycles on the market and in a defiance of science the same bikes are the smallest folded bike. These hand-made wonders are catching on and forward thinking cycle shops like Perennial Cycle are working hard to grow more awareness to the practicality of such a unique product.
Whether you are using it as a superb grocery chaser, a daily commuter that you don't have to leave out on the street or traveling by bus and train, there are a whole host of reasons to consider a Brompton Folding Bicycle.
Bromptons are built in London and virtually every one is a custom bike in that the company does not have "stock" models. There a wide variety of options available and the possible combinations are in the tens of thousands. Color, gearing, tyres, handlebar and saddle are some of the choices! The one thing they all have in common are the compact folded dimensions.
We stock a wide variety of Bromptons in the shop, so you can always come in and test ride bikes and buy a model from us on the spot. A growing number of people are ordering custom bikes - Contact Us.

Bromptons come in a wide array of colors and the color schemes are endless in that you can choose 2 colors. One for the Main (center of the frame) and one for the Extremities (rear triangle on the back and fork and riser on the front). Think candy colored iMacs on steroids.
